Position Overview:
LawDepot.com is currently expanding and looking to recruit a Technical Writer in Edmonton, Alberta. In this role, you will be responsible for creating interactive web products and services that are helpful, easy to understand and a pleasure to use for our 24 million plus yearly visitors. You will also work to improve the sales and usability of our products, by improving the structure and readability of the contract questionnaires. This is a full-time permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week with opportunities in office or hybrid.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop interactive product questionnaires that customers fill out to create customized legal documents
- Write and edit text to make the product creation process simple and easy for users
- Gather and sort through quantitative and qualitative data to determine problem areas and opportunities for improvement across products
- Learn about best practices through collaboration with our Technical writing team
- Collaborate with our Legal, Design, Development and QA departments to create powerful, interactive web products that are optimized for conversion
- Utilize internal tools to implement questionnaire improvements
- Conduct product research and user testing
- Develop innovative strategies for increasing user engagement and retention
- Help assess the viability of potential projects, services, and features
- Continually develop skills by reading and researching about digital marketing and UX training
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
· Post-secondary education in Writing, Communications, Law, Business, or other relevant fields
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate complicated information in a succinct way that users can understand
- Understanding of consumer psychology, online marketing, and conversion optimization
- Effectively provide and receive feedback
- Self-driven with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to identify opportunities and suggest new ideas
- Quality decision making and sound judgement
- Technical writing experience would be an asset
- Knowledge of law and legal matters would be an asset
- Working knowledge of UX best practices would be an asset
- Software development knowledge would be an asset
- Bilingual in French, German or Spanish would be an asset
