Abingdon Health is a world leading developer and manufacturer of high-quality rapid tests across all industry sectors, including healthcare and COVID-19. We take projects from initial concept through to routine and large-scale manufacturing and have also developed and marketed our own labelled tests.

We offer product development, regulatory support, technology transfer and manufacturing services for customers looking to develop new assays or transfer existing laboratory-based assays to a lateral flow format. Abingdon Health has also developed AppDx®, a customisable image capturing technology that transforms a smartphone into a self-sufficient, standalone lateral-flow reader.

We are extremely passionate about our people, and we have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Transfer Scientist to join our team in York to support the growing pipeline of lateral flow diagnostic projects. The role requires familiarity with, and keeping up to date with, established and emerging technologies in the medical devices/diagnostic industry in particular, relating to point of care testing to ensure our service provision is maintained at the highest standard possible.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development of lateral flow assays for third party and internal product development.
  • Maintaining a design/development programme and constant interaction with the customer.
  • Preparing and presenting data as and when required.
  • Preparing written SOP’s for laboratory methods, procedures and instrumentation
  • Providing technical support to trial sites, established customers, and sales team.
  • Assisting in the generation of marketing materials, specifically the technical content.
  • Liaising with manufacturers and suppliers regarding product development requirements and life cycle material management
  • Compliance with all aspects of the Abingdon Health Quality Management System in the completion of tasks and participate in internal audits when required.
  • Promoting and observing health and safety requirements.
  • The role is based at the York site with visits to other sites as required.

Further Details:

As a Technical Transfer Scientist, you will report directly to the Technical Transfer Manager. The role will demand that you can work upon your own initiative, have the ability to prioritise workloads effectively and be able to meet strict deadlines. The right person must have a strong sense of professionalism and discretion.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From £25,750.00 per year
