Programme information
Our traineeship will introduce you to investment management and you will gain industry knowledge, experience and build relationships enabling you to progress your career and provide you with skills to secure a permanent role. We will also support you in achieving an industry recognised professional qualification. As part of the Investment20/20 programme, you will have opportunities to meet and network with over 300 trainees across the industry and participate in socials and insight events.
Our trainee programme is a fixed term one year contract paying £20,000. You will receive 27 days annual leave plus 9 public holidays. You will also be entitled to take 2 paid Volunteering days. The primary location for these roles is Edinburgh. There will be an opportunity to work some days of the week from home.

Position overview
Trainee Marketing & Sales Executive
This role is a unique and exciting opportunity to join our business in a hybrid role across marketing and sales. The successful candidate will report into the UK Institutional Marketing Manager and will support both the UK marketing and sales teams to attract and retain clients. The role will enable the successful candidate to development a wide range of business skills from working within a successful commercial team.
Responsibilities: (List below)
- Support the delivery of the UK institutional sales and marketing plan.
- Contribute to campaign planning and idea generation.
- Briefing the digital marketing team on email and social media campaigns.
- Support the delivery of management information on campaign activity.
- Help research and identify new leads and contacts on Linkedin and other databases / media.
- Support the maintenance of client and campaign information on the client relationship management database (Salesforce).
- Monitor campaign progress and assist the Senior Marketing Manager, Business Development Managers and Client Director, where appropriate, to progress opportunities and build brand awareness.
- Collection of sales data to help produce management information figures for presentations and reporting.
- Support liaison with third parties, including suppliers, media buyers, creative agencies, media owners, conference organisers, trade associations and distribution partners.
- Coordinate, review and input on RFPs (Requests for Proposals) and RFIs (Requests for Information) to further the sales process and work with the relevant teams to deliver.
- Attend conferences and client events.
- Help co-ordinate activities with other internal teams, including investment, client service, compliance, digital, RFP team, product development and operations. This involves the development of relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including investment managers and senior management.
Required experience / skills / qualifications (List below)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- A willingness to learn and an aptitude for absorbing new information.
- An interest in marketing and client-facing roles (sales, client service).
- Confident with a can-do attitude.
- Highly organised, with effective planning skills.
- Achievement orientated
- Team player, able to work closely with colleagues in Edinburgh, and remotely with colleagues based in London, Netherlands, and US.
- Adaptability.
Preferred qualifications
- Standard Grades level 1-3 and ideally a minimum of 3 Higher Grades or equivalent.
- Experience of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
Travel to the Edinburgh office is required. Some travel maybe required to other offices that our teams are based in.
