Reporting to: General Manager

MUST have a background of steel processing / welder fabrication. Must have experience of managing projects, production management. This role will have full document control of the project.

Overall responsibility for the management of the workshop and being the appointed technical Manager for the workshop and all UK projects.

To drive a high-quality customer focused performance across the engineering function through the establishment and measurement of KPIs and the daily workshop activity. TO supervise, manage and coordinate all fabrication works in Llandow workshops. To ensure adherence to all Engineering standards and H&S standards.

As Technical Manager representing the business on all technical-related matters, advising project teams and reviewing tenders and design and advising accordingly.

Key Accountabilities:

· Manage the workload (plan, organize, and prioritize) in order to maintain workshop production schedules and deadlines.

· Ability to read and have good comprehension of P&IDs and drawings

· Ability to make quick decisions and offer support for those decisions

· Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment and handling multiple tasks simultaneously

· Accountable for overseeing the safety of engineering personnel and provision of a safe workplace, including the production of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of work.

· Leadership and development of the workshop teams to imbed a culture of continuous improvement, quality and high performance and improving the safety culture.

· Management of the Engineering Workshop team, including performance, discipline and attendance, and succession planning and training needs analysis.

· Ensure compliance with maintenance, reliability and inspection requirements.

Manages the delivery of work plans, challenged ways of working and tracked progress against plans promoting appropriate actions for any shortfalls.

Key Skills/ Knowledge/Experience:

· Mechanical Engineering background and relevant experience.

· Knowledge of the process equipment industry codes (ASME, ANSI, API, EN etc.) as they relate to pressure vessels and piping.

· Excellent communication skills for conveying information to internal departments, and to external clients and vendors.

· A good understanding of all fabrication work including pressure vessel, skid fabrication, structural steel and boiler-making amongst other engineering requirements.

· Good knowledge and fluency in Microsoft Office suite applications, especially Excel and Word.

· Effective problem-solving skills

· Build good, professional relationships with all staff.

· Good organizational skills

· A good standard of attention to detail

· Maintain a clean relevant driving license

Ensuring that good housekeeping is maintained at all times at their workstation and surrounding area

Taking reasonable care of themselves and other persons who may be affected by their actions whilst at work

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £60,000.00-£65,000.00 per year

  • Llandow: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
