Job description
About Faculty
Faculty transforms organisational performance through safe, impactful and human-led AI.
We are Europe’s leading applied AI company, and saw its potential a decade ago - long before the current hype cycle.
We founded in 2014 with our Fellowship programme, training academics to become commercial data scientists.
Today, we provide over 300 global customers with industry-leading software, and bespoke AI consultancy for retail, healthcare, energy, and governmental organisations, as well as our award winning Fellowship.
Our expertise and safety credentials are such that OpenAI asked us to be their first technical partner, helping customers deploy cutting-edge generative AI safely.
Our high-impact work has saved lives through forecasting NHS demand during covid, produced green energy by routing boats towards the wind, slashed marketing spend by predicting customer spending habits, and kept children safe online.
AI is an epoch-defining technology. We want people to join us who can help our customers reap its enormous benefits safely.
The role
This role focuses on our Government business unit, which helps UK and international government departments and agencies to utilise AI and data science, and improve public service delivery.
We want to ensure that our teams have excellent people management, systems and processes to thrive, and the new Team Coordinator role is crucial to building this. Within this internal-facing role, you will be responsible for building and then running these, working closely with the Commercial Directors, Technical Directors, BU management teams, as well as with our Finance and central Performance team.
As part of your day-to-day job, you can expect your key responsibilities to include:
Building a strong culture of using data to improve processes. This is mainly through creating management information dashboards, utilising our BI tools, automating processes, championing the quality of data, and proactively generating informative analysis to improve the team
Working closely with the BU management teams on project and staffing tracking; keeping on top of team allocation data & ensuring it informs GOV financial calculations and hiring plans. Ensuring our staff are allocated to projects appropriately, aligned to their personal development goals as well as business need;
Running & improving team processes for GOV, including our approach to team meetings, delivery oversight, and broader team wellbeing, including feedback and recognition within the team;
Build & maintain a sense of community. Organise frequent team social events & build strong personal relationships in the team;
Working closely with our client delivery teams, identifying where they may need support to thrive, and feeding back and resolving issues;
Being aware and able to understand the business goals of GOV and the wider organisation, ensuring that our processes and systems support delivery of these goals;
Staying aligned with Faculty’s central teams (Finance, Onboarding, Recruitment, and Performance Team) to ensure cohesion between all GOV and company systems. This will include mastering and upskilling your team on project management and understanding our customer relationship management software;
Focussing on supporting the Directors with external meetings, and where relevant, preparing agendas, room bookings, slides, attendee information. Particularly important to your role are the regular cadence of meetings that focus on team, projects and sales health;
Administering and improving the GOV onboarding experience, making sure new joiners have met the right people, have access to all of the information and context that they need, and ensuring that they are set up for success;
Act as liaison between finance and project teams. Coming up with solutions to issues with reporting, invoicing & billing.
The role will require being proactive, spotting challenges and creating workable solutions. You’ll be keen to get stuck in and get your hands dirty. On any given day you could be preparing materials for key internal meetings, working to resolve a tricky staffing decision, or ensuring we’ve got a steady drum beat of activities as a team, to learn and have fun.
We are growing quickly, and you will be encouraged to grow the scope of your role as ambitiously as you wish. Collaborating with the TECs sitting in Faculty’s other Business Units will be an important part of staying aligning with the wider company picture, sharing tips and solutions.
Who you are
The role will need someone who is highly organised with outstanding emotional intelligence and people leadership skills. In particular:
You will be someone who enjoys building the culture and environment where others can thrive. You will be given a high degree of autonomy, while still being given support as part of the broader Faculty team, and opportunities to learn and develop. We are keen for someone who enjoys spotting opportunities, making links, and proactively making things happen.
You’ll be excited about the opportunity automation brings and keen to be the data champion for the team. You’ll enjoy the process of encouraging data quality and keen to proactively share insights discovered through manipulating and analysing our data.
You’ll also be a starter finisher, not satisfied with letting issues hang and always proactive in developing simple solutions to operational challenges.
You are a clear communicator and have experience developing and maintaining operational processes, as well as building excel reports and slide decks.
Some of your proudest achievements will be things you have enabled others to do or when you’ve helped your team work better.
But beyond that, at Faculty, your attitude and behaviour are just as important as your skill and experience. We look for individuals who are empirical, support our values, foster our culture and deliver for our organisation.
We like people who combine expertise and ambition with optimism. Who are interested in changing the world for the better - and have the drive and intelligence to make it happen.
