Job description

We are a highly motivated and experienced Traffic Signal Control and Maintenance company that provide safety critical planned and reactive maintenance works to our clients on the UK’s national road infrastructure.

From our office in Bristol, we are well situated to serve the South West, South and South East of the UK, and we currently have several vacancies for enthusiastic and reliable Traffic Signal Operatives/ Chargeable Team members to join our London based service team on a full time permanent basis.

Experience within the Traffic Signal maintenance/ Highways industry is essential, although, full in house, on site and other approved training will be provided for the right candidate.

What you will do.

The purpose of this role is to carry out planned maintenance, reactive fault rectification and emergency attendance works of Traffic Signal controlled junctions and pedestrian crossings.

You will be part of a two person team and work closely with any other contractors that may be on site in ensuring the works are completed on time and following set procedures for public safety.

The role will include the replacement of damaged roadside Traffic Signal equipment, such as poles, signal heads, PBU’s and detection/ fault finding and repairs to lamps/ LED aspect replacements, vehicular and pedestrian detector faults, cable fault finding/ testing and investigating any other faults.

You may be required to carry out small excavations and footway reinstatements to complete some repairs.

Restoring traffic signals back into operation, ensuring safe/ correct operation of site and clearing any faults within the control equipment.

Reporting completion of the works to the TFL call centre for final remote safety/ operation confirmation checks, and sending detailed fault clearing emails, complete with photographs so the fault can be processed and closed down.

You will be working out of our clients depot near Enfield and will be covering an area for the Transport For London contract. Full details of the area will be provided along with site specific navigation software to enable easy location of sites.

From time to time you may be required to visit our Bristol office for training and development purposes.

Working hours are based on an alternating three weekly shift pattern including every third weekend as per below:

Early Shift = 06:00 – 14:00 Monday to Friday

Night Shift = 22:00 – 06:00 Sunday to Thursday

Late Shift = 14:00 – 22:00 Monday to Friday

Weekend Shift = 06:00 – 18:00 Saturday and Sunday

Overtime will be available as and when required. This will be in the form of extra hours before/ after standard shifts, or weekends.

Although predominantly based in the North & Central London area, there may be a requirement from time to time to work in other areas.

What we are looking for

In order to fulfil this role successfully, the following are some of the key skills and experience required/ preferred:

Electrical knowledge

Civil engineering knowledge

Experience of working on the highway

Experience of working on Traffic Light Control systems

A strong health and safety focus

The ability to work on your own or as part of a team

Excellent organisational skills

Able to use email and good communication skills

A good team player with a positive approach

Ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment

Organised, trustworthy and self-motivated

The ability to work at heights (no more than 4 meters)

Able to work in all weather conditions

Physically fit

Full clean driving licence
