Wild Thang are Merchandise Experts who have been established for over 25 years. We are a dynamic, forward thinking organisation looking for a Junior Designer/Artworker to work within a fast paced studio environment, learning to adapt and create engaging designs across multiple platforms. You will be given full guidance working under the supervision of a Senior Designer/Design Manager to produce high-quality commercial work. This is a temporary contract for a period of 12 months due to parental leave.

Job Responsibilities

Ability to use your background in design and computer applications on various levels to create, update and finalise design layouts for production covering our core business areas outlined below.

Whilst it’s important that you have a creative flair it’s also essential that you have good commercial understanding with strong time and project management skills, the ability to maintain work flow and meet deadlines for multiple and varied design assignments through regular priority assessment and close team working.

You will need to

• Develop an understanding of our artwork terminology and processes across all core areas. Interpret artwork instruction, layouts and any additional information supplied by the sales team on behalf of customers or suppliers to ensure accurate representation of artwork on the finished product.
• Evaluate sales team / customer’s instructions and identify questions regarding design and print issues
• Suggest improvements and modify formats to increase the quality of design and production while ensuring individual clientbrand standards are met.
• You may occasionally communicate with external customers to offer help, discuss options or offer solutions and design ideas
• This is a varied design role covering internal and external design projects, from simple artwork setting and preflight of customer provided files to full creative design from concept through to completion and delivery. This involves working with small, medium and large organisations including many high profile brands.

Internal design will include

• Creation of all print and collateral (e.g. brochures, flyers, product guides, sales materials, point of sales materials, vendor materials)
• Creation of digital assets including website and email graphics
• Ensuring consistency and brand images are maintained through all marketing, promotional materials

Essential skills

• Excellent Mac & PC knowledge
• Strong knowledge of Adobe CC - Adobe Photoshop, illustrator, Acrobat, indesign
• 1 years experience within the creative industry, preferably in an creative artworker role
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• A strong desire to continually learn
• Previous industry experience is desirable
• Strong eye for detail and excellent proof-reading skills
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Knowledge of print production a plus
• Knowledge of basic web design/apps

Desirable skills

• Preparing graphics and text and populating on websites, experience of working on various platforms
• Experience in creating shopify shops
• Background in an ondemand, print, ecommerce capacity

• 8am – 5pm Monday – Thursday; 8.30am – 4.30pm Friday.
• Permanent contract (following initial trial period)
• 41.5 hours per week
