The environment agency strives to enhance wildlife and biodiversity nationally through our commitment to creating a betting place for people and wildlife.
As a Team Member in our local Field Teams, you will be maintaining our river and flood defence assets and responding to flooding and pollution incidents. You will be working as part of a diverse team and will help to accomplish routine maintenance, efficiently, safely and to a high standard. You need to be able to communicate professionally with our partners and members of the public.
This hands-on and physical role involves working as part of a team, outside in all weathers. You will be involved in a wide range of activities, from grass cutting using strimmers, ROBO, pedestrian and ride on mowing equipment, to clearing debris/blockages, and tree work using chainsaws and chippers. We also undertake machine work driving tractors/excavators/telehandlers. You will receive nationally recognised training in all required skills.
You will participate in our 24-hour call-out rosters, responding with your team to operate our assets. You will play an active role in protecting homes and businesses from flood risk.
We offer a mandatory nationally recognised level 3 apprenticeship- Water Environment Worker.
We respond to flooding and environmental incidents providing 24-hour cover. We provide advice and support to other Environment Agency departments and external partners.
You will be part of a team with a wide variety of skills and experience.
A full valid driving licence is essential
Experience in a range of mobile plant and equipment
Experience in chainsaw operations and associated equipment.
Communicate at a variety of levels, both internally & externally
Excellent customer service skills both written and verbal
Self-motivation, with the ability to work well in a team or independently
Personal skills requirement: taking initiative, good time management, flexibility, problem solving and decision making
Basic understanding of IT technology including smart phones and tablets

A full valid driving licence is essential. You would be based at Willop depot Dymchurch, Kent and would be expected to be able to respond within 60 minutes.
