Job description
We are the Environment Agency. Working with Government, councils, businesses, and communities, we create a better place for people and wildlife. Acting to reduce the impacts of climate change is at the heart of everything we do.
Are you looking for an opportunity to make a real difference to the environment and how we manage Water Resources? We are looking for a technical leader with strong knowledge of Water Resources regulation.
The successful candidate will need to work across Water, Land & Biodiversity Teams as well as with national teams and directorates, thinking strategically to drive forward delivery through engagement with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
You’ll be working across the WLB Leadership Team, alongside Team Leaders and other technical specialists, to ensure the prioritisation of our work, ensuring we understand work pressures and provide a clear message to our teams. Using your knowledge and influencing skills, you will help West Midlands deliver its strategies and achieve environmental outcomes. The successful candidate should also have the flexibility to adapt to different work streams and an understanding of other sectors such as Agriculture and Water Quality is advantageous.
This is a hybrid role, working at least 40% of the time away from home (for full time workers this is at least 2 days per week). You’ll have flexibility to choose which days and locations.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role. As a Water Resources specialist, you will be expected to contribute to any Dry Weather / Drought incident response.
