Job description
Do you have the experience of effectively and confidently engaging with a variety of Debtors and successfully recovering outstanding debts? Maybe you can manage and drive projects to implement business efficiencies & improvements.
NHS Shared Business Services are looking for a Collections Team Manager to recover from Consumers, Private Patients and ex-staff to Local Authorities, global Pharmaceuticals and also other NHS Organisations across the UK and internationally. The teams also work closely with selected third parties for enforcement of debts via the UK courts, and Overseas debtor collections!
This is a fast paced environment, with strong growth and improvement plans for 2023 and beyond, so the ability to work under pressure, and to tight deadlines are essential skills for the role.
The role offers a hybrid working pattern, with an expectation to work in the Wakefield office 2 days per week. However, during training, you will be required to be in the office full time!
What you will be doing:
- To be responsible for performance management of our service against contractual KPI’s to timescales and budget
- To own and manage the Client service improvement plans, managing risk and issues, driving quality assurance, and providing accurate and timely reporting internally & externally
- To stabilise and grow the Direct Debit function for the business (To support and delivery against business and clients’ requirements in line with company’s vision and mission)
- Own and deliver against contractual service agreements, including effective management of all changes as part of the ongoing service improvement, including
- Contractual amendments, and billing to Clients as required
- Ensure departmental compliance with ISAE 3402 audit regulations and any other audit requirements

Develop highly effective working relationships with key Client contacts to ensure service delivery meets contractual requirements
Lead and effectively support the team and wider business ensuring best practise is established, developed and sustained
What you will bring:
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
- Good education to GCSE level, including English and Maths
- Excellent client facing skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to describe and influence change in a positive, constructive and professional manner
- Ability to demonstrate strong, fair performance management and development of teams of up to 10 people
- Strong leadership skills
- Proven track record of building highly effective and productive teams
- Flexible and adaptable to work environment and requirements
It would be good if you had:
- A working knowledge of Oracle, in particular Order Management, Receivables and Receipting modules, ideally in a Shared Service environment
- Knowledge of Direct Debit Process and Fees based billing regimes
- CICM or other Collections qualifications

Salary: up to £32,000 (plus a 3% flexible benefit) dependent on experience and development needs
Benefits: 25 days annual leave with the option to buy additional days, 4 x death in service benefit, pension, and generous flexible benefits fund 3% (can be taken as a cash option), annual bonus of up to £500.
