Job description
Our friendly Gynaecology team are searching for a dedicated professional to work clinically within the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit on a fixed term/secondment basis.
Within this role you will be supporting the delivery of a patient-focused, Women's Health Same Day Emergency Care service for women in early pregnancy up to 16 weeks, including the outpatient management of patients with hyperemesis.
You will provide excellent leadership and management support for the nursing teams within both the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit and Gynaecology Outpatients.
The Gynaecology Outpatient service here at The QEH is evolving to meet the needs of our women and we would love for you to join us on our journey of improvement!
You will provide the role of patient advocate to support informed choice, empowering women to select the appropriate treatment pathway whilst ensuring that colleagues respect the vulnerabilities of this patient group.
You will be instrumental in driving forward the development of both Early Pregnancy and Gynaecology Outpatient services by exploring and developing effective care pathways using evidence-based guidelines and procedures to standardise care delivery. You will also oversee the ongoing review of the effectiveness of the service and standards of care by contributing to local dashboard data and audit processes.
You will act as a role model to deliver a high standard of care whilst supporting/mentoring the nursing teams and students within the environment to develop their knowledge and skills effectively. You will also assess and review service improvements through collaboration with Trust keyholders and service users to enhance patient experience in Gynaecology.
You will deputise for the Gynaecology Services Matron as appropriate.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King’s Lynn is located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, along the North Norfolk coast, and not far from Sandringham House.
We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire. We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network. Some specialist services and clinics are provided in community facilities, such as the North Cambridgeshire hospital in Wisbech.
In February 2022, the significant progress that has been made at QEH in just three years since 2019 was recognised by the Care Quality Commission who rated the Trust as ‘Good’ in all of the core services they inspected, and recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures). We have an absolute determination to continuously improve care and services for our patients and their families.
