Fixed Contract- 2 Years
Term time, 35 hours per week Mon- Fri.
Salary -NJC Scale 2 £20,812 (Actual Pro Rata £18,021)

The Governors of St Hilda’s wish to appoint a qualified and dedicated Teaching Assistant.
At St Hilda’s, we are working to ensure all our students are fluent readers, who can read to learn, as soon as possible. To support us in this, we are looking to recruit a literacy-focused teaching assistant, who will work closely with our amber and red readers.
The role will involve conducting intervention with our red and amber readers, with the former following the Ruth Miskin Fresh Start phonics programme.
Post responsibilities include:
- To support, encourage and motivate students working on learning tasks and activities, in accordance with the aims of the lesson and students’ reading profiles.
- To play a lead role in the development of the teaching/TA team so that the most effective strategies are used to help students behave appropriately for lessons, learning, trips, social time and life.
- Where a pupil is both a red or amber reader and statemented, to assist in the identification of short-term achievable goals and targets within the context of the Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs) to ensure these are reflected in lesson plans and learning activities for all students.
- To work with the TAs and teachers on establishing and maintaining the rewards system in line with the school behaviour policy which promotes strategies to encourage achievement and the development of self-esteem.
- To contribute to keeping up to date records of students’ behaviour and patterns in the classroom
- To regularly feedback to the literacy team and feed into key strategies for students
- To respond to the needs of individual departments by adopting your timetable and prioritising key students in specific lessons.
