GSL Education are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Secondary Teaching Assistant to work at a thriving Alternative Provision in York , North Yorkshire, starting in September 2023 . The position is full-time and is suited to Graduates considering a career in the education sector, experienced Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant or those considering becoming an Education Psychologist in the future.

- There are also outreach intervention centres sited in mainstream schools around the City of York. These intervention centres are for their Kestrel programme, which is designed for pupils who require a short-term provision to support them in their mainstream school.

- They aim to teach young people to achieve academically and socially – all of their pupils have different starting points and experiences of school when they join.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with an EHCP for SEMH, reinforcing learning objectives and promoting independent thinking.
- To support the class teacher in the delivery of a creative curriculum, outdoor curriculum, or play-based learning curriculum at KS4.
- To work in partnership with other support staff, teachers, and outside agencies to ensure each child receives the best education and support.
- To track progress and developmental markers.
- Foster a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere that encourages active participation and a love for learning.
- GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C or higher; certificates must be provided at interview.
- Be educated to Degree level or hold a relevant Level 2 qualification or higher in childcare.
- Have a clear understanding, knowledge or hands-on experience of supporting people with autism, learning difficulties, social, emotional, and mental health needs or speech, language, and communication needs.
- Be a flexible, dynamic, and reliable practitioner.
- Have a genuine desire to work in the education sector.
- Have a Child Only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one. DBS sponsorship is available for this post.
