Oceanarium
The Oceanarium is seeking an enthusiastic and pro-active supervisor to guide the team, continuing and developing exceptional standards of quality and care in the Animals and Education department.
Located on the beach and firmly established as one of the area’s most popular visitor attractions, the Oceanarium is home to a diverse range of creatures - from sharks, penguins and otters, to turtles, stingrays and crocodiles.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare, husbandry, health and nutrition are maintained, following all SSSMZP regulations and BIAZA guidelines.
- High standards of maintenance, presentation and operation for all the Oceanarium exhibits.
- Maintaining comprehensive animal, exhibit and husbandry records through use of ZIMS.
- High standards of maintenance for quarantine and off show facilities, as well as the plantroom and LSS for all exhibits.
- Ensuring the provision of regular talks, feeds and interactive opportunities to provide a captivating, educational, and immersive experience for all visitors.
The preferred candidate will have at least 3 years of experience working in aquatic husbandry with a wide variety of creatures and systems as well as staff supervision. Relevant degree level qualifications are an advantage along with an organised, structured approach and proactive, positive outlook.
A salary of £25,300 is offered along with other staff benefits.
This full-time position includes on-call responsibilities on a rota basis as well as weekend and bank holiday working.
