The Role
South Bank Colleges is looking for a full-time qualified teacher to teach in our 14-16 and Young People Unit.
The department caters for students who are not able to access mainstream education due to different challenges, and require a specialised, individual and highly supportive approach to learning.
Understanding the pupil’s needs is essential in this role so the young people are encouraged to reach their full learning potential, and we are seeking individuals who can make a positive impact.
You will be able to relate to and motivate students from a variety of backgrounds and ages, and to employ effective teaching strategies.
Permanent - 36 hours per week
Please note: The successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Skills and experience
The ability to deliver excellence in teaching and learning. Ability to relate to and motivate students from a variety of backgrounds and ages, and to employ effective teaching strategies.
- Candidate will hold a recognised teaching qualification (Diploma in Education and Training (DET) or equivalent);
- English and Maths - must be qualified to a minimum of Level 2
- A demonstrable track record of effective teaching and delivering in the subject specialism.
- A degree or equivalent qualification and/or recent relevant vocational experience.
- A knowledge of the KS4 curriculum would be a bonus for this role, however the school will also be looking to interview teachers with experience in a Secondary or FE setting.
- Experience of teaching with emotional regulation and with positive behaviour/de-escalation strategies would be a huge bonus for this role
