The opportunity


As a Tax Team Assistant (“TTA”) within the UK FS Tax Global Compliance & Reporting (GCR) team, you will coordinate and complete tasks that occur throughout the lifecycle of an engagement. With strong project management skills you will help Client Server Teams to ensure client engagements comply with EY and regulatory requirements, whilst also following best practice principles and being run efficiently.


Your key responsibilities


  • Managing and completing assigned tasks throughout the lifecycle of a tax engagement - providing support and guidance for the creation of an opportunity, the budgeting process, contractual considerations, set up, the regular review of engagement economics, billing and closure.
  • More specifically this would include:
    • Managing PACE (EY’s engagement creation system) set up for individual engagements, guiding teams in the Centre of Excellence
    • Proactively reviewing budgets v actuals on a portfolio of engagements, and resubmitting budgets via EY’s ETC tool where needed.
    • Reviewing WIP and preparing invoices for the Client Server Team to help them achieve working capital KPIs.
  • Acting as a “Go To” contact for the Client Server Teams, offering to attend internal meetings and running training sessions
  • Ensure standard processes are followed and suggest process improvements to support efficient working principles
  • Liaising with clients and third parties, such as HMRC, as applicable
  • Work with the offshore support team, providing oversight and feedback as appropriate.
  • Support the onboarding and development of junior team members, providing training on the job and identifying other training needs
  • Establishing good working relationships with key stakeholders in the business and maintaining regular contact
  • Working with the offshore support team to ensure tasks are delivered on a timely basis and work is of a high quality
  • Working with other TTAs and teams to manage workloads and support sharing of resources
  • Sharing best practice with other TTAs and key stakeholders and act as a Subject Matter Expert
  • Actively contribute to team calls with the TTA group to share knowledge, experience and best practice tips
  • Leading on ad hoc projects


Quality and Risk Management (QRM)


  • Demonstrating detailed knowledge of the process to be followed to fully comply with all engagement set up requirements whether locally engaged or under a sub contract arrangement with an EY office in a different country
  • Liaising with the Tax Quality and Central Risk Management teams as appropriate
  • Having a detailed understanding of contract considerations and data privacy requirements
  • Proactively managing and monitoring compliance with all QRM procedures and policies

To qualify for this role, you must have


  • Significant experience gained in an administration/project management/customer service role
  • Good experience of Microsoft systems and databases
  • Good experience of working well under pressure
  • Strong experience of problem solving
  • Practical experience of verbal and business writing


Ideally, you’ll also have


  • Strong project management skills demonstrating the ability to plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines and monitor budgets.
