Group Accountant
Reigate, Surrey (Hybrid 2 days in office)
Role Overview
The purpose of the role is to support the Head of Corporate Reporting oversee the financial management of Just Group plc and to prepare regular consolidated financial information as well as half yearly Group financial statements. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the general ledger for all non-trading subsidiaries.
The role will be central to the successful production of our Group Annual Report and Accounts, including narrative reporting requirements and IFRS financial statements Presentation and disclosure considerations will play a significant part of the role responsibilities. The successful candidate will also work with other teams including regulatory SII reporting and the subsidiary financial controllers and will need to ensure an excellent relationship is maintained with the stakeholders involved in the external reporting cycle including Risk, Investor Relations, Internal Comms and Sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Play a key role in the successful delivery of the Annual Report & Accounts, co-ordinating and leveraging strong relationship with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve this.
- Assist with the preparation of the consolidated financial statements and disclosures as directed by the Head of Corporate Reporting (including the Group Annual Report & Accounts and Group half yearly report).
- Responsible for full verification and data control of the Annual Report & Accounts and Group half yearly report.
- Provision of clear and meaningful analytical review for the Audit Committee, demonstrating a robust technical understanding of the accounting implications of new transactions that drive amounts included in the annual and half-year financial statements.
- Support provision and coordination of timetables with authors to the Annual Report & Accounts production.
- Assist with and run the consolidation routines for the group on a monthly basis, ensuring that all consolidation entries are reflected in the general ledger ensuring control and accuracy.
- Critically review the GL accounting processes and intercompany accounting, including regularly reviewing the integrity of COA.
- Responsibility for the production, testing and submission of XBRL tagging of the Annual Report & Accounts.
- Assisting the Head of Accounting Policy in the preparation and maintenance of the documentation regarding group accounting policies, accounting for new transactions, accounting processes and procedures.
- Independently produce subsidiary financial statements for holding and dormant subsidiaries.
Key Skills
- Professional Accountancy Qualification, eg ICAEW ACA, ACCA, CIMA
- Five plus years post-qualification experience
- Experience of reporting under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Accounts production, from trial balance to full report and accounts including preparation of disclosure notes
- Experience of preparing front half of Annual Report & Accounts for listed companies, preferably financial services
- Familiarity with IFRS reporting requirements
- Familiarity with Solvency II reporting requirements is desirable
- Experience of liaising with external auditors
- Desirable but not essential - Experience of insurance accounting and Solvency II reporting
