The Financial analyst is responsible for financial and business analysis on asset portfolios in addition to providing financial recommendations to several functional areas of the company including Sales, Operations, Accounting, Risk, and Business Development. This individual will prepare analyses and make recommendations to improve product, segment, and company profitability as well as plan, consolidate, and analyze actual and budgets related to asset portfolios.

This is an onsite position located in Aurora, ON, and reports to the Finance Director within Volvo Financial Services (VFS) Canada.

This is how you make an impact

  • Acts as a business consultant, responding to and communicating thoroughly and efficiently
  • Coordinate the long-term planning process and periodic short-term forecasts
  • Actively participate in the preparation and consolidation of annual strategic plans
  • Develop commercial forecasts and control reviews for operating expenses
  • Manage the credit reserve model and support external audit requirements regarding reserves
  • Lead the month-end closing process, analyzing financial metrics, and developing insights
  • Provide business support through performance, profitability, and risk analysis
  • Assist the FP&A team and other departments in analytics initiatives driving business intelligence strategy
  • Review reporting packages to maximize efficiency and support with automation
  • Assist in the preparation of overall long-range business plans as well as quarterly forecasts.
  • Assist in the coordination of the consolidation of business plans and submissions to the head office.
  • Support month-end closing process
  • Prepare account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items
  • Identify opportunities for improvements and drive changes
  • Perform special projects as required to support management and the business
  • Participate in internal and external audits by providing timely and accurate data to auditors

Who are you?

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency with planning and executing in business intelligence applications such as PowerBI or Tableau
  • Financial Services experience a plus
  • Possess a positive attitude with the ability to work within and in support of a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Self-starter, high-quality, and able to produce high-quality work under pressure and in a timely fashion
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to deliver insights and well-thought-out recommendations
  • Detail-oriented with a proven track record of accountability and follow-through to ensure all loose ends are resolved
  • Strong computer skills, including advanced skills in Excel and proficiency with PowerPoint and MS Teams
