Oliver Wyman is now looking for Talent Manager to join our Newcastle Upon Tyne office.
Job Overview:
Data and Analytics is a specialist business unit within Oliver Wyman, set up in 2017 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and has since expanded to Milan (Italy), Berlin (Germany) and Madrid (Spain). We now have a team of 90+ across Europe with growth plans through 2024.
The Talent Manager will be responsible for the staffing & performance management of the Specialist team across Europe. The Talent Manager will work 1-1 with the Specialist team to understand their goals and objectives and match them with upcoming projects to further their professional development. The Talent Manager will take a lead role in the Performance Management process, ensuring project reviews are collated and the organization of the annual Year End evaluation process.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the day-to-day operations of staffing and talent management for a number of Specialist staff
Engage actively and personally with the team as well as know and understand their current strengths and development objectives, personal preferences, and career goals
Frequently interact with Partners, and the other Talent managers to understand and address project staffing needs and balance them with individual preferences and career goals
Ensure all Talent Management administration is kept up to date (staffing systems, performance management systems, project pipeline)
Conduct successful on-boarding of new hires (integration, training)
The Talent Manager will be part of the Data & Analytics Team and will be working in close collaboration with the Practice leads, the UK& I Talent Management Team and broader European Talent Management team.
Manage the staffing of Specialists for whom you are responsible for, considering balances between project requirements and execution, development objectives and personal preferences
Oversee local utilization, ensure that trapped capacity is limited
Lead the Performance Management for the population i.e., launching formal project reviews, updating staffing contracts, organising Year-End/Mid-Year annual performance assessments.
Career management including on-boarding, performance management and career development:
Proactively seek informal feedback as projects are ending to ensure issues and development objectives are taken into account for next staffing assignment as appropriate; seek informal feedback every 2-3 months on longer projects
Provide career advice to Specialists and be keenly aware of Specialists’ preferences and performance based on frequent personal interactions.
Ensure skills & experiences are updated based on case reviews
Manage integration of the New Hires
Collaborate with other Human Capital functions regarding topics such as local training or reporting on performance management cases
Act as person of trust for specialists regarding work related issues such as career development, work-life-balance, or conflict resolution
Support the monitoring of the team morale in close collaboration with local office Leadership
Contribute to the organization and run relevant Specialist committees together with local Office Leadership
Work on project-based initiatives i.e., Inclusion, Diversity, & Belonging; Recruitment processes
Experience Required:
2-5 years of experience in a fast-paced resourcing environment/people management position
Talent management/professional services experience preferred but not required
Experience balancing ever-changing work demands in a challenging environment with numerous stakeholders to satisfy
Proven ability to foster relationships at all levels of the organization
Ability to make decisions autonomously
Ability to work both autonomously and within a larger team
Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and different cultures
Proactive, high performing multi-tasker who takes full ownership of their work and manages the details
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Psychology, Human Resource Management, or Business Administration
Excellent communication skills on all levels of the organization
Technical Skills:
Excellent MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), video/messaging tools (Zoom, MS Teams, Slack), collaboration tools (SharePoint)
