Do you have a passion for camera technologies, photography, videography and image processing? The Image Quality & Qualification team within Camera & Photos is seeking an experienced colour scientist in our Cambridge UK office. You will have the opportunity to help drive our continuing quest to improve the accuracy, authenticity and ambiance of photos and videos. In this position you will critically analyse images and algorithms in a cross-functional team and work closely with algorithm engineers locally and abroad to root identify opportunities resulting from new sensors, hardware and processing capabilities to improve our images. Your collaboration with multi-functional Camera & Photos engineers will directly influence the performance and quality of Apple’s innovative camera features. Key Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of photography: exposure settings, white balance, depth-of-field, etc.
  • Extensive experience developing Image Signal Processing algorithms, particularly auto-white balance
  • Track record of contributing to real-time shipping code ( C++ and Matlab/ Python)
  • Have some understanding of computational photography and machine learning
  • Focus on details and have and possess strong debugging and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education & Experience

A post-graduate masters or doctoral degree (or equivalent experience) in a technical degree (such as computer science, electronic engineering, physics, colour science, image science, etc) and a passion for photography.

Additional Requirements

  • Though not required, please do mention if you have any of these additional skills:
    • Understanding the fundamentals of the Human Visual System
    • Experience with Psychophysics and conducting Psychophysics experiments as it relates to image quality
    • Experience with Apple products, including macOS command line usage
    • Experience with project or program management, schedules and deadlines.
