Job Description
One team. Global challenges. Infinite opportunities. At Viasat, we’re on a mission to deliver connections with the capacity to change the world. For more than 35 years, Viasat has helped shape how consumers, businesses, governments and militaries around the globe communicate. We’re looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.
ViaSat, a global communications company that believes everyone and everything can be connected, is committed to growing our UK team. Viasat UK enables this vision by providing assured Data at Rest solutions that protect UK / Allied government and defence information. Viasat UK protects critical, sensitive data in servers, laptops, tablets, and bespoke systems in a way that gives users greater mobility and operational flexibility without compromise. The Viasat UK team also plays a key role in bringing Viasat’s world-class tactical data links, satellite communications, encryption, and cyber security solutions to UK and European markets for government, defence, energy, and consumer markets. Viasat currently delivers the Internet to hundreds of thousands of consumers in the UK and Europe—our new satellites will deliver faster downloads to more people than ever.
As part of our growth plans, Viasat UK is recruiting a Software Engineer, working on multiple Data at Rest products with emphasis on Cyber Security and Information Assurance technologies. In this role, you’ll be part of a team developing very high speed encryption engines that are critical to the next generation of highly secure, miniaturised solid state hard drives used to protect critical data for government and defence computers, tablets, and embedded platforms. As such, this position requires our Software Engineers to hold or be able to obtain UK Government SC clearance.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be an experienced Software Design Engineer who can operate in a multi-disciplined team designing, developing, and testing standard and bespoke design solutions for securing Data at Rest. In this role, you will participate in all aspects of a challenging development program including requirements elicitation, architecture, design, implementation, and test of complex solutions involving HW, SW and FPGA.
In this role, you’ll be a key member of a multi-disciplinary team:
- You’ll work with System Engineers to elicit and refine software requirements as well as the validation of requirements.
- You’ll work with the rest of the team to carry out high level architecture design and low-level detailed design through implementation, test and integration.
- You’ll work with the Project Manager to define the project plan and ensure delivery is against the plan.
- You’ll own the delivery of your software from requirements through development and into production from a technical and project perspective. You’ll work with other software engineers as appropriate for the project.
- You’ll work with System Test, Production Test, and Operations teams to ensure the solution is reliable, testable, and producible in volume.
- You’ll represent Viasat’s culture of innovation, inclusion, and collaboration - working together with others to rise to the challenges and opportunities that are part of an innovative, fast-paced technology-centered organisation.
