SUPPORTED LIVING MANAGER, CANTERBURY, KENT - £38,000 PA
The Kent Autistic Trust is an outstanding care provider supporting autistic adults across Kent for over 30 years. We provide a range of services including residential care, supported living, day opportunities and family support.
We are looking for an experienced and professional Supported Living Manager to lead a Supported Living Service in Canterbury.
About the Role
The role requires a hands-on leader who has a genuine desire to ensure that we provide a safe and secure environment and who is committed to ensuring that our tenants can express their individuality through meaningful activities to maximise their unique development needs. Our Supported Living service is a short walk away from the vibrant hustle and bustle of Canterbury. It provides housing for 7 tenants, 6 men, and 1 lady aged between 21-28. There are 4 self-contained flats and 3 ensuite bedrooms with a shared communal area. Our tenants participate in a wide range of activities in the community, such as bowling, trying new restaurants, staycations and even holidays abroad. When at the service our tenants enjoy movie and karaoke nights, celebrating special events from around the world. Anything from the festival of lights to pancake day, you name it, we celebrate it! They also have a lovely outdoor space where they enjoy socialising and a good barbeque in the summer months.
The service operates 24/7 with three shift teams comprising earlies, lates and night support staff. The normal working week for this role will be Monday-Friday 9-5 and the manager will also be required to participate in the On Call Rota. Some flexibility will be required around your normal hours to meet service needs which may include some occasional shift work where you will need to observe practices and ensure standards are being maintained across the services. The manager will work closely with the Regional Manager to achieve our quality vision.
We are looking for a strong and visible leader with a minimum of two years experience of coaching and developing a specialist care support team, with an emphasis on practice leadership.
In this role you will need to be someone who will act where they see a problem or opportunity. You will be expected to quickly adapt to challenging situations to ensure that we keep people safe and manage risk positively.
You will already be experienced in the application of regulatory requirements, such as The Care Act and Health and Social Care Act and be knowledgeable about relevant legal frameworks such as Safeguarding, Court of Protection applications, MCA capacity and best interest. Ideally you will already hold a Level 5 Health and Social Care Qualification or equivalent.
