Introduction to Generate

Generate has been creating opportunities and offering support to people with a learning disability since 1972. We are committed to improving the lives of people with a learning disability by supporting and encouraging them in a creative way to access opportunities in their communities, take their place as citizens and reduce their reliance on services.

Main purpose of job

Social Opportunities is a project which offers people with learning disabilities and/or autism a monthly programme of social events and activities with built-in support to make sure that they can attend and enjoy these sessions. The events we have run previously have included karaoke sessions, trips to the pub, meals out, and cinema visits. Having these events put in place helps to reduce isolation and increase access to wider society for the people we support.

As a support worker on our Social Opportunities project, you will be working with our members to help them to attend and enjoy the events we organise for them. Most of these take place on evenings or weekends, but you may also have the opportunity to work on our other services (Community Connections, Youth) and as part of the holidays we run.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with lived experience of learning disabilities and / or autism.

Please note you will be required to travel to work at a variety of locations, depending on need.

DEADLINE: 24th February 2023 at 5.00pm.

If you would like to apply please visit our website www.generate-uk.org and fill in the person specification. Please email this back to the email address stated on the website.
