Hi I am looking for a motivated and enthusiastic support worker to join my fantastic team. I suffered a brain injury following an accident and am now highly dependent on others to meet my daily needs I do requires assistance with personal care, and I have physical, and cognitive difficulties with reduced mobility which at certain times can result in me needing to use a manual wheelchair when out and about. I love Manchester City football and enjoy watching game shows. I enjoy going out and about in the community shopping and joining in, I have a large family and live with my partner in Rochdale in an adapted property.
Shifts: full time and part time positions available
- Combination of day shifts, night shifts and weekend shifts on a rotational basis covering 7 days a week
- Day shift (7 am-7 pm)
- Waking night/Sleeping shift (7 pm-7 am)
- The position has the added benefit of sick leave pay which will be paid up to a maximum of two weeks per year.
Pay:
- £11.22 hourly weekday rate - on successful completion of your probationary period (6 months) £12.50
- £13.26 hourly weekend rate - on successful completion of your probationary period (6 months) £15.00
- A flat rate of £71.28 will be paid for sleeping hours between 10:00pm-6:00am
You will have the opportunity to develop your skills while delivering care to an individual in their own home. Undertaking a range of duties to support the Client, you will work closely with other members of the team in providing the highest standards of health care.
You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Previous health care experience is desirable, however full training will be provided to those with the right approach and attitude. This post requires you to work effectively as part of a team, independently, and alongside family. The post therefore requires that you work and conduct yourself in a manner that is acceptable to the employer.
Reliability, integrity and complete trustworthiness are essential attributes in this post. This position requires you to have a good understanding of Information Technology as all daily care records will be completed and submitted electronically.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- To establish and maintain a trusting, therapeutic, working relationship with client family & Case Manager
- To support the client in line with the Care Plan guidelines
- To promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the workplace
- To promote effective communication with all parties.
- To contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse.
- To liaise with other agencies when required.
- To complete daily records as advised including; time sheets, daily records, care plan summary and critical incidents, petty cash etc
- To attend supervision, team meetings and other meetings with the employer and other persons as nominated by the employer
- To attend training sessions as arranged
- To facilitate and support the client at therapy sessions
- To support the client to engage in activities, hobbies & interests within the home and in the community.
- To assist the Client with:
- Shopping
- Road Safety
- Assisting client with budgeting
- Therapeutic Engagement -To carry out therapy practise sessions as advised and guided by treating professionals
- Ability to maintain safety
- To escort the client to personal development services/pubs/clubs/meals out/ shopping trips
- Holidays
- Social skills/ behaviour
- Mobility needs
- Bathing Toileting Dental care Maintenance of general health Dressing Nail Care Grooming
- Sleep
- Laundry needs Cleaning – including cleaning of the home and equipment
- Ability to Maintain Safety including within the home environment and the wider community
- DIY & home maintenance
- Any other reasonable task or intervention that is required of you to ensure all aspects of the clients’ health and social care needs are met.

NCM work closely with the client and their family or representative to provide tailored support packages for clients in their own homes.
The client or their deputy can be the employer or NCM can be the employer.

What we're looking for from you:
Experience in care and / or working with (children/young people/adults) is beneficial
A full driving licence is essential
The ability to work safely with clients – Applicants must be willing to undergo appropriate screening. This includes checks with past employers and an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS. *It is a criminal offence for people who are barred from working in regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with that particular group (i.e. adults at risk, children or both)
