Job description

We are currently recruiting for the role of Support Worker - 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday, on a 12 month fixed term contract, to be based at one of our supported housing schemes in Stoneygate, Leicester.

Additional working hours are also available

As a Support Worker you will provide one to one support to Service Users with ongoing mental health needs, in line with individual support plans. This may include:

· Assisting Service Users in the planning and preparation of meals / shopping.

· Assisting Service Users to participate in cleaning, cooking and laundry.

· Addressing social exclusion and the development of social skills by encouraging Service Users to develop social links outside their home, and signposting to relevant community-based services and activities.

· Providing emotional support to build confidence and self-esteem.

· Supporting Service Users to develop financial management skills.

· Supporting Service Users to maintain / improve their physical health.

No personal care is involved.

If you have previous experience of supporting adults with mental health needs, then this role could be perfect for you! We are looking for committed individuals who are driven by a desire to make real difference to the lives of vulnerable adults. Desired qualities and skills include:

  • organised and self-motivated, with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • experienced in supporting those with mental health needs, with a positive approach to promoting independence

As the role involves providing cover across other supported housing schemes, all located in the Leicester area, the successful candidate will need the ability to travel between sites in a timely manner, including at short notice.
