Job description
Our Wandsworth and Westminster Accommodation Services are multiple site services, for people with varying mental health conditions. The sites are spread across the boroughs Westminster and Wandsworth and located close to local public transport in the area.
You will work to establish a culture of co-production where residents are at the forefront of the work that is carried out, helping to promote autonomy and build individual confidence and interpersonal skills.
Single Homeless Project is a London-wide charity. Our vision is of a society where everyone has a place to call home and the chance to live a fulfilling life. We help single Londoners by preventing homelessness, providing support and accommodation, promoting wellbeing, enhancing opportunity, and being a voice for change.
As a Project / Support Worker, you will also work closely with the Recovery and Opportunity Coordinator (ROC), to form a programme that is built around the specific needs of our residents. This is an opportunity to create opportunities that are truly person centred. The full programme will be able to respond and adapt to the individual and specific needs of each resident. You will also help to imbed an approach to mental health support, that is founded in compassion and understanding, whilst also working in partnership and collaboratively with other professional services
To be successful, you will have:
- An understanding of the multiple issues that can lead to homelessness and how such experiences can impact on people’s willingness to then engage with services
- The ability to produce high quality, personalised support and safety plans that are reflective of the person you are working with
- An awareness of the laws that govern mental health services and the application of such laws
- A good grasp of the health and social care sector with the ability to navigate between and across various specialties whilst working with people to create multi-agency support and safety plans
- Strong time management skills, ability to work on own initiative, manage competing priorities and maintain high standards.
The Wandsworth service is mostly single cover, so the ability to work without supervision and operate on you own initiative is essential.
The role requires you to work a shift rota, which will include a mixture of early and late shifts with some weekend and bank holidays included.
Closing date: 26th February 2023 (at Midnight)
Interviews to be held on: w/c 6th March 2023
This post will require an Enhanced DBS check to be processed for the successful applicant.
Our attractive benefits package includes:
- A salary increase after successfully completing six month's probationary period
- A 37.5 hour working week including flexible working hours (core hours are 10am – 4pm) in non-accommodation services
- 25 days annual leave, increasing annually to the maximum 30 days (plus paid Bank Holidays),
- A contributory pension scheme: Single Homeless Project will contribute the equivalent of 5% of your annual salary
- Staff Health Cash Plan and discounts scheme
- Comprehensive and integrated training programme designed specifically to develop the skills and knowledge involved in our work
Single Homeless Project is actively committed to equal opportunities and the promotion of diversity and inclusion, in all of our services and workplaces. We are also Disability Confident Committed and are IIP Silver accredited.
