Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for an amazing support worker to join our friendly team; if that’s you, you will be energetic, enthusiastic, full of great ideas, and with a great passion to ensure that our young people are enjoying the best life possible!
As a member of our team, it is vital you have a great sense of humour and the resilience to understand that this role requires dedication, flexibility and the drive to achieve the best outcomes for the people we support. Our residents love trying new things and you’ll enjoy coming up with different activities and planning days out to make sure no two days are the same.
Some of the amazing young people we support can display behaviours that can be challenging at times, and other young people have limited communication skills. We provide full support and training to enable you to work in our team so experience is not essential, and if you do have previous experience of this level of required support or other transferable skills we would love to hear from you.
We are a small residential service for young people with complex learning disabilities in Jesmond, and the support we provide is on a 1:1/2:1 basis to ensure the best outcomes for the young people we support. The people we support are aged 17-30 and enjoy an active life including attending our specialist College and Day services during the week. Outside of this, the young people love socialising and having fun enjoying activities such as visits to the pub, restaurants, cafes, the cinema, music events, swimming, gaming, reading, relaxing and enjoying events having a great laugh together to name a few.
Please be aware this role requires working around the young people’s daily attendance at College/ Day Service so will require a range of shifts.
If you think this role would be perfect for you and you want to make a difference to the lives of the wonderful people we support, we would love you to hear from you!
