You can make a positive difference in someone’s life.
Come and join Autism Anglia where our staff are passionate about their work and the people we support, ensuring they have a personalised, quality-driven, person-centred service.
We are currently recruiting staff to support a gentleman of 40, who lives in his own home in Crockleford Heath near Colchester. The house is located in a remote location and you will need to be aware of how you can travel there.
He is a gentleman with autism that enjoys having social interaction with staff, including chatting about his favourite things. He is a fascinating person to work with and brings a lot of fulfilment to people that work with him.
He’s a wonderful individual and likes to use computers, especially the YouTube Channel. He enjoys various cartoon characters, books and nursery rhymes, meals out especially puddings.
We are looking for individuals who will join the dedicated staff team to support him to achieve meaningful goals and continue the work of improving his quality of life
If you believe you can provide a dedicated work ethic and want to spend your day supporting this young man to live his life fully, then this is a great opportunity for you.
There is never a typical day, as it is driven by what the gentleman wants to do. There is nothing more important to him than ensuring his routine is in place, and someone to share his experiences with.
About you
It is essential you have a good understanding of autism and the challenges that it may face. Experience in working in a similar setting previously would be an advantage. What matters most is that you are patient, kind and caring, and with a desire to support people to live fulfilling lives with as much independence and choice as possible.
You will be supporting the gentleman in his own home, working on a shift pattern that will include weekend work and sleep-ins, so you will need to be flexible.
Working for us gives you access to a range of perks and benefits:
- Extensive Induction and training programmes
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time)
- Additional holiday based on length of service
- Employee Referral Scheme – An incentive scheme which earns you money as you share jobs and aid the recruitment of employees
