Support Worker - Homeless Hostel
We are an Independent charity based in Birmingham and we provide a safe and secure alternative to life on the streets, for single homeless men aged 25 and over the chance to rebuild their self-confidence and make permanent changes to their lifestyles.
Description
We are looking for a Support Worker who can provide holistic support and guidance to single homeless people as part of their progress towards independence. The successful candidate must be able to work independently with the client and be able to adjust their approach depending upon the client's needs. The need to maintain clear professional boundaries and to be consistent with different clients is vital within this role.
General Duties
- To provide support to people on a one to one basis
- Encouraging and supporting individuals to participate in daily living skills and opportunities.
- To provide support and assist in daily living skills e.g. personal finances, healthy eating, building relationships, employment, safety in the home etc.
- To assist service users with their personal hygiene requirements, ensuring that the dignity of individuals is maintained at all times.
- To support service users to maintain a lifestyle by providing access to educational, sport and a variety of social opportunities.
- To support service users with their holistic needs, including spiritual and emotional needs.
- To ensure service users have maximum input with the implementation of their support plan.
Skills
- A good understanding of Homelessness.
- Experienced with working with vulnerable clients.
- Ability to provide structed Support Plan/Risk Assessments.
- Providing housing related support to clients who are facing homelessness.
Desirable
- Experienced as a Support Worker / Key Worker.
- Previous background in housing, homelessness, family support, casework, outreach work or youth work.
- Diploma Level 2 in Health & Social Care, Advice or Guidance or equivalent.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £20,500.00-£21,000.00 per year
