Part-time Daytime/Evening Care and Support worker for Independent Living

JOB TITLE: Care and Support Worker
ROLE TYPE: Permanent, Part-time
LOCATION: Croydon

RATE OF PAY: £9.09-£11.00 depending on age and experience

HOURS: Variable:

16-20 hours per week. 2-3 days per week. Early morning to mid afternoon or evening (required to be flexible with start and finish times) There will be times when you need to do additional hours such as when going out or in times when extra support will be needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Support with living Independently and make it possible for the client to have an enjoyable and positive life

- Training will be given

- Personal care such as hair washing and showering, meal preparation, support with appointments to go to hospital or social events and other general care duties.

- Assisting me to do paperwork if appropriate for applicant.

- Help with looking after and playing with my cat.

- Some domestic and cleaning and tidying duties. Assistance with hobbies and outings and getting out in the fresh air. Keeping on top of household tasks and looking after the home.

- There is also times when additional hours need to be done to cover other workers in the team during leave or sickness.You will need to be good at working as part of a team and supporting each other so I get care regularly and not be left at risk.

- There will be additional hours during holiday periods

YOU WILL BE:

- You need to have a genuine caring attitude and be hard working and flexible.

- Even with experience you must be willing to adapt to changing needs.

- Living close to Croydon or within 2 hours of Croydon.

- Someone who is good with a cat especially.

- Good communication skills and if suitable responsive in emergencies.

- Reliable, positive and enjoys working on a one to one basis.

- Flexible and very punctual and fit to do the hours that need to be covered.

- Able to learn quick and work independently as well as working within a team

I am looking for someone who wants to stay a year or longer when they are applying as I want some continuity and stability with staff and do not want applicants seeking this as a temporary post unless they are a student and are positive and interested in this type of work. I do not want people to apply just for money, they have to have a vocation and want to help someone who is need of support to live independently.

Young applicants 18 and above welcome so long as you are mature and able to commit to doing your job well.

REQUIREMENTS:

A recent CRB/DBS or Current police check whilst getting new DBS will be acceptable.

Not to smoke in my home or while providing support.

Artificial long nails cannot be worn at work

Current passport for ID and proof of address.

2 referees details with email contact.

Smart appearance but comfortable clothing to be worn for personal care to allow for doing the job properly

PREFERRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL:

Driver: Either a driver or someone with a provisional licence and learning how to drive would be preferred but not essential.

Previous experience of the role or studying health and social care.

Students and young people welcome.

COVID-19 considerations and low immunity of client:
face masks to be worn throughout the shift and to wash hands thoroughly and use hand sanitizers. To ensure all surfaces, rails and handles are sanitized every shift.

Additional duties to assist me in independence and help with my daily living needs and all household tasks.

We are looking for stable, reliable punctual people regardless of age or experience who are willing to learn and enjoy doing new things.

COVID-19 considerations:
PPE is supplied and you will be required to wear a mask to protect yourself and others from Covid 19. Sanitiser needs to be used and surfaces have to be kept clean at all times.
