Job description

Job description

We’re looking for a talented and creative Digital and Social Media Officer to join our busy and dynamic Comms Team here at Nottinghamshire Police.

We’re looking for someone with a flair for engaging with a wide range of audiences – helping us to connect with our communities and build trust and confidence through great storytelling. Your work on stories and supporting digital campaigns will help to protect the public and to save lives.

We want to talk to candidates with a passion for positive and transformative communications. You will have excellent written and verbal skills – you might be a digital journalist looking for your next challenge or a social media comms specialist already working in a large, fast-paced organisation, delivering impactful and tangible change through innovative digital and social media engagement.

You will be well-organised and confident in responding to and leading social media conversations, as well as advising officers at all levels across the Force on how best to connect with the communities we serve, in particular supporting the great work being done through neighbourhood policing.

You will also have a good understanding of how the media works and a knowledge of media law would be an advantage.

As a key part of the team, you will be able to build strong relationships and influence both internally and externally. You will handle complex situations, from dealing with conversations on local and national issues to providing the right framework for hard-hitting digital campaigns aimed at changing behaviours.

In particular, the role will play a key part in driving forward our planned transformation in digital comms, so a sound understanding of managing social media, web development and analysis of insight/evaluation and communications channel development are essential.

You will also be an inspirational team player who leads by example to develop a first-class service for the people of Nottinghamshire.

Please note this job will be based at force headquarters, but there is an expectation that the person appointed will be required sometimes to work at different locations as required, so a clean driving licence is essential.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 12 February and interviews will take place w/c 20 February.

To arrange an informal chat about the role, please email Head of Corporate Communications Lyn Heath, on [email protected] or call: 0777 3149747 during office hours.

When applying, please complete the information on the next few screens referring to the person specification and job description to indicate your suitability for the role. You can also attach a supporting statement of no more than 2000 words and your CV.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please note that you must obtain your line manager’s sign off if applying for an internal vacancy. This will need to be submitted on the Line Manager Awareness Document (Support form) which is published on the intranet. Any applications submitted without the support document will not be progressed through the process. Completion of the Line Manager Awareness Document does not mean that release from your current role is supported. Should you be successful, a release date will be negotiated between the two departments.

Candidates currently at risk will be required to complete and attach the at-risk pro-forma document.

All applicants will be subject to the Force Vetting Policy.
