Job Title: Complex Care Support Worker

Location: Edinburgh

Salary: £13 per hour

Hours: Full time/Part time

Reed are delighted to be working with an established service supporting people with lifelong learning disabilities and/or autism. We are looking for compassionate and reliable Support Workers with experience in Complex Care. We are dedicated to empowering individuals and promoting their independence, while ensuring their safety and well-being. As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing person-centred care and assistance to individuals with complex needs, helping them to lead fulfilling lives.

Main Responsibilities Include: 

• Supporting with day-to-day living such as, personal care, mobility assistance, social activities and general well-being. 
• Administering medications according to prescribed schedules, monitoring medication effectiveness, and reporting any adverse reactions or changes in the individual's condition.
• Providing companionship and emotional support to individuals, promoting their mental well-being and social engagement.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of care provided, including observations, interventions, and any changes in the individual's condition. 

Person Specification: 

• At least 6 months previous experience in a similar role or in healthcare working with learning disabilities and Autism.
• Certified training in medication administration.
• Understanding of person-centred care and ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively, utilising appropriate de-escalation techniques.
• Experience working with individuals with diagnoses or conditions associated with challenging behaviour, such as Autism, epilepsy and other learning disabilities.
• Drivers are preferred.
