Job title: Support Worker
Location: Miltoun House, Albion Terrace, Guisborough TS14 6HJ
Rate Of Pay: £10.42 per hour
Shift Patterns: 38.5hrs per week plus 2 sleeping night shifts per week, Full Time, Permanent
Information about the Role:
Working as a Support Worker at Miltoun House your duties will include the following:
- Providing physical support which may include helping with household tasks and personal care.
- Providing emotional support for an individual and at times their families.
- Maintain the hygiene, dignity, health and safety of service users at all times.
- Encouraging and supporting the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
- Teaching life skills, such as shopping, using public transport and paying for bills.
- Working with other healthcare professionals to ensure that all care needs meet the highest possible standards.
- Assist in the design and administration of an evaluation of the care standards and care service provision.
- If applicable, assist in the administration of medication.
Information about the Service:
Miltoun House is a supported living service for individuals with a learning disability or mental health diagnosis. We support people to live as independently as possible and our aim is to learn new life skills to enable them to move on to living in the community in their own home. At the supported Living service, Miltoun House, we have 17 bedrooms with bathrooms. There is a large communal living room, dining room and kitchen – where we support individuals to learn daily living skills.
Necessary Experience or Qualifications to work as a Support worker:
- No experience needed for this role as full training will be provided.
- However previous experience working as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Domiciliary Carer or Senior preferred.
- Caring, kind and considerate.
- Passionate about making a difference in someone else’s life.
- Good communication skills.
- Able handle sometimes challenging situations.
- Fun, energetic and able to build relationships with many different people.
