An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Support & Wellbeing Service, part of the Student and Campus Life Division, as a Support and Wellbeing Officer within the Faculty of Arts. This is a key frontline role providing practical and emotional support to students experiencing difficulties and offering advice and signposting to other internal and external services as appropriate.

The Support and Wellbeing Team is a large team split into smaller sub-teams based around academic faculties and/or campus locations. While the role holder will be embedded, line managed and supported as a member of the Support & Wellbeing Team, they will also work closely with specific academic Schools linked to the Faculty of Arts on the University Park Campus. The role holder will build strong professional networks with the Senior Tutors, Personal Tutors and others in their specific Schools, which will be used to disseminate information, share best practice and inform the School’s approach to complex cases.

Students can be referred into the service via academic staff or may choose to seek support themselves and self-refer. Our support can be accessed in a variety of ways with students being advised via face-to-face appointments, video calls, telephone appointments, or by email. An important part or the role involves advising students with difficult or challenging circumstances, helping them to understand university policies and processes and referring them on, or escalating issues to other specialist services.

You will be highly motivated, organised and an excellent communicator who can demonstrate sound judgment under pressure. We welcome applications from people committed to delivering a high quality, professional service to our students and academics, and have a pro-active and flexible attitude to work. Further details of the role can be found in the Role Profile.

The post is offered on a fixed term contract until 29 March 2024. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Matt Orton, email [email protected]. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
