Level 3 Information Communication Technician (Support)
Weekly Hours Worked: 37hrs. 9 am-5.30 pm (5 pm Fridays)

Established over 29 years in Hazel Grove, we work with both retail and business customers, providing fully supported business computer equipment, gaming systems, network installations and cloud-based IT-managed services.
Brief job description:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to begin their IT career with us, through an 18-month Level 3 IT solutions technician apprenticeship. On completion, there will likely be options to progress through the company with further training as their skills develop.
Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
- Completion of the Level 3 advanced apprenticeship which will constitute at least 20% of the work week.
- Help a large variety of customers face to face or via remote support portals, remote login or over the phone.
- Maintain remote systems with the latest security patches and product updates.
- Diagnose and repair PC hardware and software, both face-to-face and remotely.
- Configure and prepare equipment to high quality and cyber security standards.
- Analyse and specify equipment and services to a customer’s needs.
- Sell PCs, services and peripherals in a small shop environment.
- Configure and help with cloud-based email, authentication, storage and backup.
- Configure and secure customers’ mobile phone technology.
- Progress to maintaining and configuring servers and networks.
- Progress to on-site fault diagnosis and installation.
- Progress to small business customer IT solution design (cloud, on-premises, hybrid).
- Progress to help with customer Cyber Essentials certification completions and evaluations.
Qualifications:
- 5x GCSE qualifications, preferable in some STEM areas.
Skills Required:
- Enthusiasm for IT equipment and its function.
- Being punctual, reliable and presentable.
- The ability to work individually or as part of a team.
- A good memory of specifications and work procedures.
- Willingness to learn throughout their apprenticeship and beyond.
- 5 good GCSEs or equivalent lvl 2 qualifications including Maths and English
- Good and clear phone manner.
Future prospects:
As above, subsequent to completion of apprenticeship, there will be future opportunities to continue with the company and undertake different (potentially Level 4) training.
Training to be provided:
Advanced Level 3 apprenticeship with Firebrand training.
InformationCommunication Technician
A mixture of in-work training with remote tutoring, with a number of days of in-depth training at Firebrand’s training centre.
The course includes BCS exams and the highly rated CompTIA A+ and Cloud Essentials+ technical qualifications.
As the apprenticeship proceeds further responsibilities and options become available. The apprenticeship offers a strong foundation for a future IT technology career, with the added exposure to how many small businesses work first-hand.
Apprenticeship training is fully funded by us (the employer), while you get paid your salary (see above). The occasional travel to the Firebrand training centre, food and accommodation is also paid for by us.
