Position Overview
Beckers is an $800+ million revenue global industrial coatings company whose North American headquarters is in Elk Grove Village, IL. Reporting to the Information Technology Manager for USA, the Information Technology Support Specialist will provide technical assistance to our staff. In this role, their duties will include ensuring optimal use of Beckers’ hardware and software technologies, enhancing system performance, and securing data. They will also be required to advise on information technology equipment upgrades. The Information Technology Support Specialist will support all North American sites, currently in Elk Grove Village, IL and Fontana CA.
Essential Duties are those that are critical, integral, necessary, crucial, primary, and/or fundamental. These essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform.
- Provide customer service and technical support to end-users for hardware and software
- Diagnose, research, and resolve routine end-user issues in a timely manner through established protocol and troubleshooting; escalate as necessary. May monitor infrastructure issues and resolve or escalate to higher levels of support
- Provide guidance and explain policies and procedures to end-users
- Communicate and translate technical information to non-technical end users; maintain communication and monitor incident through resolution
- Assist in the set-up of new equipment and devices and train customers on new devices and technologies
- Install software on new or existing devices, in accordance with standard procedures and assist users in obtaining access to systems
- Utilize and maintain knowledge bases, white papers, FAQs, and vendor documentation
- Assist with preventative maintenance within specified guidelines and procedures
- Implement security policies and protocols of the company
- Review, update, and maintain documentation to ensure internal processes and procedures, workflows, and training manuals are current
- Review and evaluate new hardware and software products; recommend the implementation of new products
- Replace equipment that has reached the end of its warranty or lifecycle, assist in tracking and maintaining hardware and software inventory; interact with vendors
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- An Associate Degree.
- 2-3 years of experience performing information technology support.
- Exceptional ability to provide technical support and resolve queries.
- Moderate knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networks.
- Ability to determine information technology needs and train end-users.
- Experience with help desk software such as ServiceDesk+ or Freshdesk
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred skills & experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Certifications demonstrating continual skill development
