Farmers’ Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for an IT Support Specialist

The IT Support Specialists role is to ensure proper technical operation of FEC equipment by providing technical support in office, warehouses and occasionally in the field. Provide data analysis and support to FEC departments, by gathering, analyzing, and disseminating crucial information from various data points. Assist occasionally with Outage Management System during times of outages. Due to the nature of this position, a work from home option is not available at this time.

Essential Functions

Operational Processes

Communicate with, and provide support to, end users and staff on equipment operation and other issues.

Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user hardware, peripheral devices, printing/scanning devices, presentation equipment, software and other products.

Collaborate with all staff to ensure efficient operation of the company’s desktop and mobile computing environment.

Record, track and document the service desk request, problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.

Performing preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of workstations, printers, and peripherals.

Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and FAQ resources on the Internet/Intranet to aid in problem resolution.

Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex hardware problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including off-site repair as needed.

Receive and respond to incoming calls, and/or e-mails regarding hardware, software, or other technical problems.

Develop and maintain an inventory of all monitors, keyboards, hard drives, printers, scanners, iPads and other peripheral equipment.

Ensure that physical desktop connections are in proper working order.

Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations.

Accurately document instances of desktop equipment or component failure, repair, installation, and removal.

Follow and adhere to all information security regulations and policies on all respective networks.

Create, Delete, Disable and/or make changes to Employees in Active Directory.

Create Folders and restore permissions on Network Drives.

Set up New User, Create and/or modify distribution lists in Office 365.

Assist management in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future hardware and technology needs.

Alert management to emerging trends.

Other duties as assigned.

Data Analysis

Collect, organize, and extract relevant data from multiple sources, including databases, spreadsheets, APIs, and other relevant platforms.

Data Correlation: Identify relationships and correlations between different data points to uncover patterns, trends, and insights that can contribute to a comprehensive understanding of emphasis data.

Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze collected data using statistical methods, data modeling techniques, and advanced analytics tools to generate meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.

Data Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of collected data through rigorous quality checks and validation procedures.

Reporting and Visualization: Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and visualizations to effectively communicate findings and insights to stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education & Certification: Associate degree or greater in the field of computer science and/or 2 years’ equivalent work experience. A+ Certification is a plus.

  • Experience:

Technical knowledge of PC and desktop hardware, including workstations, printers, keyboards, monitors, etc.

Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.

Application support experience with Windows, Microsoft Office, iOS and the ability to learn specialized applications.

Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.

Ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.

Ability to conduct research into hardware products and issues as required.

Other Requirements

Valid Driver’s License is required

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to articulate their thoughts in a variety of situations with a diverse group of people and to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing using proficient English is required.
