Lead IT Support Engineer | Circa £35,250 + excellent benefits | Permanent* | *Gamston (Retford) Airport
Our track testing activities play a high profile and crucial role, driving safety improvements across the European automotive industry. To support the ongoing operations of our track testing site, we’re looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer to take the lead in delivering an excellent service to our employees and external customers across multiple sites. Based on-site at Gamston (Retford) Airport, this role will provide research, support and maintenance for our IT systems and support (including Active Directory, Cloud Services Azure - AWS, server and client hardware and storage), and has primary responsibility for ensuring compliance to internal service level agreements (SLA’s).
This role will technically lead and coach team members to ensure the highest level of service is maintained with the efficient use of resources. If you’re looking for a diverse role where you are guaranteed no two days will be the same, this could be the job you’re looking for!
What will you be doing?

  • Ensure the team act in a professional positive manner, leading by example and advocating values ensuring high level of service to support a high performing team able to adapt and embrace challenging deliverables.
  • Manage and support Thatcham’s internal and externally facing services ensuring SLAs are met to provide our customers internal and external with the reliability of services.
  • Pro-actively maintaining Thatcham’s IT Services, protecting against failures of hardware and software and security by providing risk-based assessments to ensure the mitigation of as much risk as is possible while keeping within budget restraints
  • Preparing and providing timely and accurate information regarding the teams workloads, schedules and resource usage to enable the business can make informed decisions
  • Leading any reactive challenges within IT infrastructure and services to ensure any issues are tackled and are seen through to resolution.
  • Ensuring the company’s data and information are protected from unauthorised access

Skills & experience that will make you comfortable in this role:

  • In depth knowledge of complex / enterprise class infrastructures including; Virtualisation Clusters, Servers, PCs, NAS, Enterprise SANs, Applications, Operating systems, Printers, Smart Devices, Telephone systems an cloud services, such as Azure and AWS
  • Microsoft Desktop and Server installation, configuration and maintenance.
  • VMware VDI configuration and maintenance
  • Extensive experience in fault finding and troubleshooting complex issues across hardware and software devices and systems
  • Experience working within a network and systems team, supporting a medium sized infrastructure containing 300+ devices and 150+ users

You are customer facing and dedicated to providing outstanding levels of service. Your excellent communication skills help you to effectively lead and motivate others, whilst your calm nature enables you to make sound and logical judgements when working in pressurised or emergency situations. With strong problem-solving abilities you’ll enjoy providing solutions to complex IT related challenges, whilst working closely with other departments to achieve wider company objectives.

Our standard working hours are 8:30 - 16:30 Monday - Thursday, 8:30 - 15:45 Fridays
Location - Gamston, Nottinghamshire (on-site)
