Being a part of the Uniform Direct team , your primary responsibility will be to provide excellent customer service to our customers. You will be expected to greet customers as they enter the store, assist them in finding the products they are looking for, answer any questions they may have, and provide guidance on product features and benefits. We are looking for passion and for excellent customer experience in store by a retail store assistant who has worked in face to face customer service preferably with schools and parents. Our retail store assistant will look after our customers with empathy, accuracy, courtesy and speed.
The majority of our customers are busy working parents that expect our staff to know what their child will need for their particular school and expect our experienced staff to size up a child by sight!
You will also be responsible for processing transactions at the till, including handling cash, credit and debit card transactions. Additionally, you will be expected to maintain the store's appearance and cleanliness, ensuring that displays are fully stocked and well presented. Overall, your focus will be on ensuring that our customers have an enjoyable shopping experience and leave the store feeling satisfied with the level of service they have received.
The job is a temporary position as a Retail Sales Assistant at Uniform Direct, reporting to the Store Manager/Manager/Supervisor. The primary responsibility of the role is to provide assistance and excellent customer service to customers in the store, online shop, and other retail initiatives and presentations at schools.
Candidates must be relatively fit, as the store is set over a large area and ladders are frequently used to access stock set up high.
The contracted hours for this position are 16 per week, but suitable candidates must be flexible to allow for hours to be increased due to business demands and during summer months. Days and hours can vary from a full day to a part day and from a part week to a full week. Weekends are mandatory
Contract ends 30th September 2023.
The applicant should have an awareness of local schools. The probationary period for the role is six months, and annual leave is not allowed during the peak period from 1st July to 16th September and candidates with holidays within this period will not be considered. The starting salary is minimum wage.
Key responsibilities include participating in the day-to-day running of the shop, keeping the shop and displays clean and tidy, maintaining regular checks on stock levels, operating the till and handling cash, cheques, and credit/debit card transactions accurately, responding to online/phone orders, changing displays of shop stock, receiving deliveries, and assisting with regular stock checks and annual stock takes. The Retail Sales Assistant is also responsible for attending school marketing events when required, developing a good knowledge of all schools and their uniforms and all shop stock, informing the public about the benefits of school uniform, responding to customer inquiries and complaints, and complying with high standards of personal presentation for dress and hygiene.
In addition, the Retail Sales Assistant should contribute to the continuing development of Uniform Direct by identifying branch objectives for the short, medium, and long term, working as part of a team with other staff members to develop new leads and increase the number of schools within the company portfolio, maintaining regular dialogue with schools and school staff, and observing and being alert to competitor activity.
