Substance Abuse Disorder Counselor
El Centro de Libertad (ECDL) is a non-profit agency in Redwood City whose mission is to provide substance abuse Outpatient Treatment services to adults and youth living in urban centers and rural communities of San Mateo County.
We are seeking a part-time or full-time Substance Abuse Disorder Counselor
Substance Abuse Disorder Counselor is a full-time (part-time would be considered), non-exempt position that reports to the Director of Programs and is responsible for supporting the Programs Operations of the Agency.
The duties of the Substance Abuse Disorder Counselor include:
- Conducting Individual and group counseling sessions
- Conduct substance abuse assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Provide outpatient substance abuse counseling based on individual treatment plans.
- Provide direct linkage, navigation, and case management to match clients’ needs.
- Maintain proper notes and documentation in clients’ medical records, and comply with HIPPA and standards of care guidelines.
- Participate in clinical supervision and attend required trainings and agency meetings
- Administering periodic drug tests; documentation of client participation from program fulfillment through discharge planning and tracking.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Two (2) years of substance abuse counseling experience and is currently certified or working towards their Substance Abuse Counseling Abuse Certification
- OR has a BA in Psychology/Social Work or in process of completing a BA in Psychology/Social Work and willing to take some additional courses to become a certified counselor
- Experienced skills in facilitation of groups and workshops (Motivational Interviewing skills)
- Variable schedule with some evening hours; Ability to be based in Redwood City and work as needed in Half Moon Bay
- In good standing with a professional association recognized by the California Department of Health Care Services for Treatment of Substance Abuse Disorders (CAADE, CADTP, and or CCAPP)
Preferred
- Bilingual Spanish/English and able to read and write in both is preferred

Regular workdays and hours:
- Monday-Thursday 8:00am – 7:00pm and Fridays 8:00am to 4:00pm.
Salary: Hiring range is $25.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
