Role Overview
Markerstudy Group are looking for a Data Engineer to work with a machine learning team to architect a managed data resource that supports complex technical functions across risk modelling, data science, underwriting and reporting. This is a novel position that sits within the technical department that will have flexibility to architect the data appropriately to leverage vast data resources, support data mining and test the value of new data.
Markerstudy is a leading provider of private insurance in the UK, insuring around 5% of the private cars on the UK roads, 20% of commercial vehicles and over 30% of motorcycles in total premium levels of circa £800m. The majority of business is written as the insurance pricing provider behind household names such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, O2, Halifax, AA, Saga and Lloyds Bank to list a few.
As a Data Engineer, you will:
· Create the data model and implement an internal data resource in an integrated environment supporting cloud-based data mining, scalable modelling
· Integrate the data requirements across underwriting, risk modelling, pricing and machine learning.
· Develop data validation processes and create regular data feeds/updates.
· Create tools and processes to test new data resources, feeding into established modelling pipelines
· Create a adaptable and scalable internal data resource that feeds all processes with the technical function, feeding into risk modelling, pricing, underwriting, reporting and machine learning.
Key Responsibilities:
· Own an internal data model that captures the internal technical requirements
· Implement the data resource in an integrated environment supporting cloud-based data mining, scalable modelling
· Integrate the data requirements across underwriting, risk modelling, pricing and machine learning.
· Work closely with the technical functions to integrate the data resource into automated reporting and modelling pipelines.
· Develop data validation processes and create regular data feeds/updates.
· Create tools and processes to test new data resources, feeding into established modelling pipelines
Key Skills and Experience:
· Experience in data engineering, preferably as DBA
· Excellent knowledge of SQL and performance analysis of queries
· Good knowledge of non-structured database solutions
· Proficient at communicating results in a concise manner both verbally and written

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £60,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
