Job description

We are looking for:

  • Studio Supervisor (3D and Art & Design) Full time
  • Salary £22,325 - £24,456 per annum plus excellent benefits.

The Role:

You will join our Digital and Creative studio supervisor support team in the delivery of Level 1, 2 & 3 art and design qualifications. Your skills should include the ability to be able to demonstrate 3D making skills in a range of materials including wood and metal. You should also understand making techniques such as casting, soldering, 3D printing and basic joinery techniques and those varied making skills usually found in a Creative workshop environment. Underpinning your management of the workshop environment you should have knowledge and the ability to apply health and safety procedures and regulations to ensure working practices are safe and follow all relevant legislation. Ongoing staff training and support is available as part of our professional development for our support teams.
In addition to the management of the workshop environment you will also provide support for our general studios managing stock control and you will be involved in the procurement of resources for the department. As a central member of the support team you will become a key support in supporting taught sessions in the Faculty and will be able to work alongside students and tutors to instruct and supervise technical classes. You will also support marketing events and our very exciting End of Year Exhibition.

Joanne Manship, Head of Digital, Creative and Performing Arts says ‘Our technical team are the hub of our learning environment, we need the technical support for students and tutors to deliver excellent industry standard lessons in our art and design courses in our 3D workshop. We are eager to attract individuals who understand the processes required in 3D Creative and Craft making who have experience working with young people in an education setting where possible but this is not essential.

The Creative department sits in a purpose built £9 million creative and digital skills building. This new facility houses; Creative teaching spaces for Fashion Design, printmaking, graphics, games art, digital & 3D design, art, photography and textiles. Digital Design studios. A new 3D workshop with tools and machinery for creative students to make 3D outcomes using additive, constructive and reductive methods including using the latest technology for making with our 3D printers.
Oldham College is a medium sized general further education college, with a turnover of almost £25m. It has one main campus in the centre of town, and this in the third phases of a £40m redevelopment which began in 2012. Higher education is taught on a second, dedicated campus, a short walk away. The College delivers a full range of work related education and training, including 16-18 programmes of study, T levels, apprenticeships, adult learning and higher education. It has over 5000 full-time students and 600 undergraduates.
