STUDENT Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting/School Nursing) sponsorship

Location: Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster

Children, young people, and families are our focus and passion, and we are looking for highly motivated qualified and newly qualified nurses and midwives committed to providing the best possible care to undertake the Post Graduate Diploma or BSc (Hons) Specialist Community Public Health Nursing(Health Visiting& School Nursing)qualification commencing inSeptember 2023.

This one-year full time course will be jointly undertaken withKings College, Brunel University, London South Bank University, and Buckinghamshire New University. Alongside the support that you will receive from the University, you will be supported throughout your training by the 0-19 team as well as by a passionate team of Practice Assessors/Supervisors and the CLCH Academy.

This opportunity is being offered at band 5 level. Current NMC Registration for nursing or midwifery, or evidence of application for NMC registration and confirmed NMC registration within 2 months of the start date is essential. You will require a qualification equivalent to 120 credits at level 5 (of the Higher Education Credit Framework for England) or evidence of previous education and training to this level.

To work towards gaining the standards of proficiency for entry to Part 3 of the NMC register/recordable for Specialist Community Practitioner.

To provide the Specialist Community Practitioner Student with a learning environment which will enable the student to develop knowledge, skills and competencies to take on the role of a qualified Specialist Community Practitioner

To gain the knowledge and skills and competence required in order to exercise higher levels of judgment, discretion and decision making in clinical care focusing on four broad areas:

  • Clinical practice
  • Community Engagement
  • Clinical practice development
  • Leadership in clinical practice
Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) is one of the largest community healthcare organisations in London and Hertfordshire, providing our services to diverse communities/boroughs in 11 London Boroughs - Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, Merton, Richmond, Wandsworth, Westminster - and Hertfordshire.

The fundamental responsibilities of the post holder are to attain the academic credentials and the clinical skills required to practice as a NMC registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse on a defined pathway.

These are summarised below:
  • To fulfil the requirements of the Specialist Community Practitioner Nursing programme by attending university course dates and practice placement days in accordance with University regulations
  • To work with the service, Practice Assessor/Supervisors to develop the skills and competencies to achieve NMC Registration Standards for Specialist Community Practice
  • With the support of the service, Practice Assessor / Supervisor, to link the theoretical knowledge gained through the university programme to the practice situation
  • To demonstrate an understanding of current and emerging National, Regional and local healthcare legislation, policies and guidelines as they pertain to chosen pathway
  • To develop/build on skills of caseload and team leadership and management
  • To work within University Regulations pertaining to academic work and student conduct
  • To work within employing organisation policies as they pertain to the relevant clinical setting
  • To work within employing organisation policies relating to employee
  • On successful completion of the course to provide evidence of both academic and clinical practice achievements to the employing
