Looking for a fun, media-savvy company where you can put your WordPress and coding skills to good use? Then you want to talk to us.
We are constantly expanding our digital offerings with websites, eZines, newsletters and webcasts. Our main websites are built on WordPress and we need someone to maintain and update them. We also want to build new ones as well.
The individual for this position should have a passion for analysis, design, implementation, and testing of operations based work. Ideally the web developer would have a working knowledge of Word Press content management systems, templates, applications, file and backend systems. Troubleshooting is a valuable skill set. The ideal candidate will have:
- Interest in object-oriented programming with an understanding of design principles
- Strong ASP/JSP/PHP or similar experience
- Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on business needs
- Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best website development practices
- Create website layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS/JS practices
- Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling the company's websites
- Create design works using Ps/Ai/Id for websites and marketing materials
- Assist in basic office administrative work
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Excellent teamwork skills and ability to assist other team members in problem-solving
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Ability to be highly flexible to quickly changing business needs and new technologies
- Ability to follow existing programming and style guidelines to maintain consistent website look and feel and consistent quality of code
- Maintains documentation, procedures and working instructions for the operations team
- Shows initiative in constantly reassessing business needs and makes suggestions that meet those needs proactively
- Develops new site functionality or code-base to decrease maintenance time and increase productivity
Preferred Education
- Degree in Computer Science, Digital Media or related field.

These sectors include but will not be limited to mechanical automotive service, jobbers, wheels/tires, and the towing/recovery industry.
Media Matters publishes among other properties, Collision Repair, Bodyworx, Collision Quebec and Canadian Auto Recycler. They are industry leading magazines, websites and eZines.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Peterborough, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
