We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent, site-based Street Cleaning Operative to join our Sheffield Highways team in Sheffield.
The salary is £19760 - £28985.7 per annum
Our Sheffield Highways account is to support Sheffield City Council. This account is responsible for the Maintenance and Management service across Sheffield, which is one of the UK’s largest local government highways partnerships.
Street Cleaning Operative plays an important part in undertaking cleaning duties to meet with the requirements of the contract and in accordance with schedules and work instructions.
The standard hours of work are 40h. Shift pattern to be discussed at interview

You will be responsible for:
- Undertake all aspects of street cleaning works including scheduled and reactive cleaning using both manual and mechanical methods, litter bin emptying, fly tip removal, flyposting and graffiti removal and litter bin installation.
- Willingness to assist in the provision of a 7 day a week service which may include weekend and bank holiday working.
- Drive or operate the vehicles and plant required to complete cleaning duties.
- Complete appropriate safety checks on all vehicles, plant and equipment and carry out maintenance and reporting defects as required.
- Report and record status of street cleaning tasks, using handheld electronic devices where necessary.
- Taking responsibility for the safety of yourself and others within your team to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and safe operation to protect team members and members of the public.
- Assist with other areas of the contract including winter maintenance and grounds maintenance as required.
