The Materials Characterisation Team sits within the centralised technology and engineering department and is a Centre of Excellence for material sciences within the manufacturing and supply division of Pfizer.
What You Will Achieve
You will be joining a diverse and multi-disciplined team of passionate scientists. As a Senior Scientist in our team, you will be asked to lead investigations related to material supplier changes, drug product manufacturing troubleshooting and proactive process understanding studies. You will be accountable for planning and executing the experimental work, data interpretation and presentation of the results. Each project will require completion of a comprehensive technical report and may require discussion of the results with the manufacturing site. You will have a technical focus area but should have a breadth of knowledge and experience in materials characterisation techniques and be able to apply this knowledge and experience appropriately. This is a global role that will involve collaboration with site manufacturing and technical service colleagues at other site locations. How You Will Achieve It
- Planning and executing appropriate laboratory experiments for multiple concurrent projects and adhering to business required timelines.
- Interpretation of complimentary data sets to provide a solution to complex manufacturing investigations.
- Communication of results both orally and in written technical reports to site colleagues and management.
- Point of contact/subject matter expert for allocated instruments ensuring they are well-maintained, other team colleagues are trained appropriately and documentation is up to date.
- Collaborate with Drug Product Design department and keep abreast of new technologies in materials sciences.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety culture and advocate of 5S and Lean Lab principles.
- Active participation in team discussions.
Qualifications:
Must-Have
- Bachelor's or master’s degree level attained in a relevant scientific discipline e.g. Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences.
- Relevant experience.
- Practical experience in a range of physical characterisation techniques that may include; microscopy, thermal & spectroscopic analysis, particle size, bulk powder properties and spectroscopic imaging. Willing to learn new methods.
- Good understanding of solid oral dose manufacturing processes.
- Experienced in root cause identification in investigations.
- Excellent technical report writing skills.
- Proven experience with customer communication.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
