The Role & Responsibilities
- The Strategy Manager, Consumer Group (CG), plays a leadership role in the business, supporting the Head of Strategy leading the [Strategy management team in the] development of long-range strategic plans and objectives through the identification of strategic issues and opportunities that could influence business growth and profitability.
- The duties of the Strategy Manager (CG) entail the articulation of the overall strategy for the Consumer Group, as well as the definition of the product strategy across all consumer products. These would cover the alignment of the strategic priorities for the Bank with the CG initiatives and product priorities taking close look at the regulatory requirements.
- The Strategy Manager (CG) should support the Strategy team in launching high priority strategic initiatives, working directly with the business and stakeholders to drive and support Consumer Group strategy, embedding it in the wider internal/external consumer markets.

- Execution of industry and competitor benchmarking, market analysis and industry intelligence
- Collaborate with the business and product teams to articulate, plan, validate, communicate and roll-out the strategic vision for the CG
- Work alongside Business to identify and prioritise critical projects and key deliverables to ensure alignment with overall strategy (including product development and technology investment)
- Identify and support inorganic objectives within the Division
- Conduct regular deep dives into markets and products using market and business intelligence to identify new strategic opportunities
- Work with group functions to articulate and support group Bank strategy
Innovation & Proposition
- Work with the Head of strategy to perform horizon scanning to develop 3-to-5-year propositions to deliver growth opportunities to the business
- Conduct R&D into new markets and products, distributions channels, partnerships, and inorganic growth opportunities
- Identify product enhancements and/or new product development opportunities to meet customer needs, help shaping the proposition and the go to market strategy
- Support Strategy against key KPI/Metrics and budget
- Produce regular and ad-hoc strategy updates, identifying obstacles, progress, and changes as appropriate
- Support in the development of Board/Exco/Regulator updates as requested
- Use of MI, business, and market intelligence to build propositions and strategic objectives
- Provide insights to Business MDs/Directors/Heads of/SLT to help drive strategic initiatives using data and MI Support the Head of strategy in ensuring the Products in the CG are fit for purpose and meet customer needs:
- Defining the product strategy: working closely with the product and marketing team to align product and proposition development, customer profiling and demographics
- Follow up and tracking of new product developments and delivery
- Understanding of marketing insights and marketing programmes effectiveness
- Execution of annual product reviews to ensure product fitness and regulatory compliance
- Supporting the Head of strategy in the definition of product and Consumer Duty Governance model
The Person
- Previous experience of working in a B2B and B2C professional services environment, preferably within the financial services or advisory sectors
- Experience of developing and implementing frameworks to support strategy delivery and facilitate the development of solutions and projects through which it can be delivered
- Project/programme/portfolio management experience involving complex business workstreams across the whole lifecycle, from objective definition and scope of work onwards
- Demonstrable experience of working successfully with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience of managing and delivering all business change projects including business planning, stakeholder management, risk analysis, reporting and communications
- Ability and adaptability to manage a large workload that will change according to business needs
