Grade B: £47,828 - £60,000 - Depending on experience
Fixed Term Contract - 9 months (with a view to go permanent)

Role purpose:
The Strategic Marketing Planner will report directly with the Marketing Director and work with other senior members of the team to set and plan how we deliver our short and long term business goals, managing internal and external team resources and budget, setting clear priorities and phasing across core strategic initiatives and BAU activities, managing the monthly, quarterly and annual marketing plan.
They will work with the team to address specific marketing challenges, identify best practice learnings and drive a clear prioritisation for effective and timely delivery of plans.
They will work across the function with on and offline comms teams, as well as the customer experience team who deliver insight and digital channels developments.
The role will be a catalyst of change and significantly contribute to building our marketing capability. They will work also with the Head of Comms to drive up effectiveness and best practice across the team;
- improvements in campaign media planning, optimisation and reporting
- agency resource planning, briefing and performance management
- budget management
- project management disciplines, agile ways of working
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Work with the business facing senior marketing managers and delivery teams to own a single co-ordinated, joined up holistic integrated marketing plan across strategic projects and comms activities, which can be further defined into prioritised monthly and quarterly detailed plans to meet business goals. Ensure the team focus on the rights projects at the right time in line with business objectives.
- Create and own a single view of the business and customer calendar to define key calendar activities– driving contribution from other functions outside marketing, e.g: Strategy, Policy and Engagement Teams
- Work with other members of the SMT to plan activities and campaigns across all disciplines and channels and ensure clear visibility of work flows across the team to ensure appropriate resourcing is available for delivery.
- Primary lead on creating simple work flow management to ensure simple navigation through to effective delivery all new briefs into the function
- Maximise our marketing impact and return on investment across the marketing spend
- Instil a project based planning approach, leading on projects to drive up effectiveness and best practice across the team
- Be the relationship owner for strategic partners (e.g media and creative agencies) to ensure a proactive approach to identifying new opportunities.
- Plan and manage internal house studio resource, maintaining brand guardianship over brand guidelines, CITB message matrix.
- Contribute to establishing firm KPI’s across the function and discipline, and tracking for monthly performance reviews of plans and activities -all to demonstrate alignment to business needs and goals.
Knowledge and Experience:
Essential
- A senior marketer with experience in working within a multi-channel, medium sized marketing function or agency managing complex business needs.
- Strong expert knowledge and experience of all marketing disciplines (on and offline comms, digital channels, insight & CRM), measurement and best practice. Experience of working within an organisation of emerging digital channels is also required.
- Strong commercial acumen, with proven experience of driving impact, ROI and marketing effectiveness
- Demonstrable experience of working with diverse stakeholders. Excellent stakeholder management engagement skills, with the ability to get buy in to ideas, change and detailed plans.
- Strong financial, analytical and budget management skills. Experience on handling media budget in excess of £5m.

- Ability to analyse, organise and prioritise work whilst meeting multiple deadlines
Special Conditions/Other Requirements:
Work from home, occasional travel to agencies in London and average twice a month in Peterborough head office.
