The Stores Team consists of a Stores Lead and a number of Stores Assistants. We are a close-knit team working in our main stores department, providing supply chain services to Royal Hampshire Country Hospital.
You will work with the Stores Lead to ensure there are adequate stocks of consumables within the hospital. You'll receive goods and efficiently distribute supplies to end users/customers and where appropriate, obtaining signatures to ensure a full audit trail. You'll also undertake deliveries of emergency stock requirements.
Main Purpose:
The post holder will work with the Stores Lead to ensure that stocks of consumables are delivered in a timely manner within hospital. Day-to-day duties are to receive and distribute goods from Main Stores at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital and to efficiently distribute supplies to end users/customers and where appropriate obtaining signatures to ensure a full audit trail. To undertake deliveries of emergency stock requirements to ensure ongoing patient care and to manage the stock and distribution of ‘essential items’. The post holder will be organised, manually dextrous with a good level of physical fitness.
General Duties:
- Responsible for delivering stock of ‘essential items’ and ensuring these are distributed in accordance with procedures
- Responsible for the safe/secure receipt of all goods
- Responsible for checking goods against delivery notes/orders on the system
- Responsible for ensuring goods received notes are produced against each delivery, printed and attached to appropriate parcel/s
- Responsible for ensuring end users/customers sign for all goods on the appropriate sheets in accordance with procedures
- Responsible for ensuring returns are collected from end user/customer within appropriate timescales relating to specific collection and documentation completed
- Responsible for advising management of any discrepancies/issues which need managerial input
Communication:
- Provide and receive information of a routine nature orally to assist with undertaking own job
- Communicate effectively with work colleagues providing and receiving information which requires tact and persuasion
- Escalates difficult customers who require their goods urgently, advising them of the correct procedures
- Provides information relating to deliveries of goods to customers
- Maintains regular contact and ensures quick and effective responses to customer queries
- Ensures relevant paperwork is distributed appropriately as per procedures
- Deals with queries from external suppliers (drivers) face to face and directs them to the correct locations
Planning and Organisation:
- Contributes to organising day to day tasks or activities with the Stores Lead
- Prioritises workload for urgent supplies
- Makes judgment on acceptability of goods against delivery notes and orders
- Deals with queries regarding identification of goods against description on delivery note/order
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed and adhered to at all times
- Responsible for ensuring returns are collected in accordance with procedures
What we're looking for:
- Manual handling training.
- H&S Training
- Understanding of stock control procedures and systems (preferred)
- Experience of a busy, demanding workplace (NHS/Hospital experience preferred)
- Basic level of written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic level of numeracy
- Basic level of computer literacy.
- Good level of physical fitness
- Manual dexterity
- Able to meet Occupational Health standards
- Good attendance record.
- Flexibility to adapt quickly and efficiently to changing work practises.

Salary: £20,270.00-£21,318.00 per year
