Job description
Our client is looking for a Storekeeper/Technician on a temporary 3 month contract basis, located in Aberdeen.
ROLE
To provide storekeeping and technical support and assistance to staff, students and external clients in the workshops and laboratory areas, under the direction of the Senior Technician
RESPONSIBILITIES
Main Duties - Generic
· To implement policies, particularly those relating to equality and diversity.
· To implement Health and Safety and security measures in accordance with statutory and requirements.
· To develop effective working relationships internally and, where appropriate, with external partners.
· To support effective quality assurance and quality improvement arrangements in the area of responsibility and constantly seek to identify and adopt best practice approaches
· To participate in team and Departmental meetings.
· To participate in the staff appraisal/performance management scheme and professional development arrangements
Main Duties – Specific
· To carry out laborious duties associated with the upkeep of designed areas.
· To periodically assist and/or cover other Technical Services roles in designated areas.
· To attend to the day to day running of designated storage areas, including retrieving and re-working materials, and issuing materials to staff and students ensuring items are in good condition for use.
· To service, adjust and repair equipment and tools in the workshops, laboratories and classrooms.
· To order tools, components and materials using procurement systems from suppliers to meet course requirements, checking the condition of goods received and processing related documentation.
· To use a variety of tools and machinery in the designated area in order to maintain the working area.
· To maintain stores stock levels and periodic stock audits.
· To keep a detailed inventory of items and equipment within work area.
· To ensure stores and workshop areas are clean and tidy and that the general housekeeping of the working area is carried out to a high standard at all times and waste is suitably recycled/removed.
· To consult with the Senior Technician and the teaching sector on the procurement of new equipment and facilities, with regards to suitability, compatibility and teaching requirements.
· When required, use skills to work in the other Technical Services areas and ensure broader knowledge of team is maintained.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
· NC or equivalent qualification in any Engineering discipline, or relevant equivalent industry experience. (SCQF Level 4)
· Evidence of continuous professional development
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
· *Technical knowledge of the Automotive or Engineering industries, procedures and techniques.
· Adaptable skillset to organise and order using an electronic procurement system.
· Experience of working within a busy stores environment.
· *Knowledge of an Automotive or Engineering environment.
